‘Last Post’ by Dina Andrews

As The Last Post plays its message
and the silence has begun
we remember the souls of soldiers
Who fought in battles lost and won.
Those who died just where they’d fallen
Others lost, some suffer in pain,
but they never will believe
They did it all in vain.
For that is what they trained for
Its a job they had to do
To fight for Queen and country
They are the chosen few.
The guns salute their memory
Poppies worn are so blood red
It’s important we remember
The souls of these brave dead.
